Your Child's Baptism

Baptism is a beautiful picture of our spiritual transformation in Christ: we go under the water symbolizing dying to our old self and come up out of the water as a symbol of being raised to new life in Christ.

Welcome Parents

We are so excited that your child is interested in learning more about following Jesus and being baptized! We believe that parents are the most influential people in the lives of their children, especially in matters of faith. Therefore, we have provided these resources to help you lead your child(ren) towards making a decision to follow Jesus.

Even if your child has already chosen to follow Jesus, these are still a good review prior to being baptized and an opportunity for you to discuss with your child what that decision means. You see, as a wedding ring symbolizes a marriage covenant, so baptism is an outward act that symbolizes the confession of faith a person has taken to enter into life with God. Baptism doesn’t save you any more than a ring creates a marriage; rather, it is the act of placing your faith in Jesus that opens the door to baptism. In this way all that is needed, from child or adult, is a believable profession of their existing faith. As you walk through this material with your child, should you conclude that their understanding is not quite developed, it’s okay to wait; in the meantime, as their faith is still budding, many parents choose to dedicate their small children. Ultimately, we trust you as parents to discern the state of faith in your child’s life and whether this is the right step for them.

If you have questions on how to engage with your child in conversations of faith and baptism, or you have any questions, please feel free to email us at kids@milehighvineyard.org.

Kindly,
